Athletics

FCS Athletics

It is our desire that every student attending Flushing Christian School be physically fit. Each class has gym twice a week. We would like our students to understand that daily exercise is a part of a healthy life style.

  • Our physical education program involves:
  • Stretching
  • Calisthenics
  • Aerobics
  • Team games
  • Grades 4-8 also participate in: volleyball, basketball, badminton and wiffleball.

All games and sports activities are designed to teach students sportsmanship and to have students think and strategize. Most important of all is for students to develop good Christian character.

Students in grades 5-8 may also participate in the Flushing Christian School Eagles sports teams if they meet the academic criteria and maintain a conduct grade of B. The Five Spiritual Principles of Athletic Competition are a major focus of our program.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

President's Challenge

The President's Challenge is a program that encourages all Americans to make being active part of their everyday lives. Students at Flushing Christian School complete several fitness challenges which the program requires and those who meet the criteria are awarded either the Presidential Certificate or the National Certificate.

Principle #1 Praise Performance
Colossians 3:17-And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Principle #2 Total Release
Colossians 3:23-Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

Principle #3 Focal Point
Colossians 3:1-2 - Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Principle #4 Servant Athlete
Philippians 2:3-4 - Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Principle #5 Worthy Witness
2 Corinthians 5:20 - We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christi's behalf: be reconciled to God.
