P.A.L.S. Peer Mentoring Program: Peers, Assistance, Leadership, & Support
A peer mentor offers encouragement, assistance, support and friendship to a new or returning student (peer pal) within their grade.
Our prayer is that the P.A.L.S. program for grades 4-8 will foster a spirit of unity in the student body and will help each student to feel welcome and supported here. New students may benefit from the added support during their time of transition to a new school. Returning students may be encouraged and uplifted by having a friend who wants to see them succeed and thrive at FCS.
Peer mentors may offer friendship and support to their peer pals in many ways, such as praying for them, helping them remember school procedures and offering to sit together at lunchtime and at chapel. We love to see our P.A.L.S. encouraging one another!
The Ministry of Peer Mentoring
ASSISTANCE—Peer mentors help their peers. Phil. 2:3-5, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition of vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Not looking on your own interests but each of you to the interests of others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus...”
LEADERSHIP—Peer mentors set a good example. 1 Tim. 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
SUPPORT—Peer mentors show friendship. Prov. 18:24, “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
